Shenzhen Bird Sanctuary

Pointless 3 Efforts

Chinese Egret

One unusual fact about Shenzhen is within few walks from the city's industrial area comes a protected bird sanctuary. Famously named as "Hongshulin" by locals, the bird sanctuary stretches over a kilometer, its a major hub for migratory birds. Beside it is another long stretch of park dedicated for bird watchers. The bird sanctuary is barricaded with mangroves and bringing a good telescope and a good telescopic lens for your camera is a must or else you will be staring dots on the seaside.

Philippines to send athletes to 2011 Universiade (Shenzhen, China)

Shennan Road Shenzhen

Finally, Philippines will be sending a "lean and mean" team for the 2011 Universiade that will be held here in Shenzhen. Basketball team will playing on a nearby (my place) gymnasium (photo above) and expect me to bring a flag to cheer for them. ^_^

Teams from different countries will be setting their foot on Shenzhen Bay stadium (below) on grand opening of the said event this August.

The city rumoredly planned to held a 7 day holiday for the said event. (I'm crossing my fingers.) hehe.

Philippines to send athletes to Shenzhen, China Universiade

THE PHILIPPINES is sending a lean but mean delegation to the 26th Summer Universiade to be held in Shenzhen, People’s Republic of China from August 12-23, 2011.

It marks the first time that the country will take part in the Universiade, an international university sporting event that is held every two years.

The Philippines will see action in eight sports disciplines, according to the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP), the only local university sports organization that is officially recognized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), the organizer of the Universiade and World University Games

The eight sports disciplines are: swimming, men’s basketball, table tennis, badminton, chess, archery, beach volleyball and athletics.

A Cebu all-star team composed of university players will represent the Philippines in the men’s basketball competition in the 26th Summer Universiade to be held in Shenzhen, China, in August.

The Sugbu squad will revolve around players from the University of Cebu, which topped the 2009 National Students Basketball Championship and the 2011 CESAFI tournament.

University of Cebu’s Roehl Gomez, who once played professional ball with Alaska in the Philippine Basketball Association, is the head coach of the Philippine team.

For the participation in the basketball competition, an athlete must have been born between Jan. 1, 1987 and Dec. 31, 1993

Serbia will defend its men’s basketball title in the Shenzhen Universiade. It played host to the 2009 Universiade and scored a 73-51 decision over Russia to claim the men’s basketball title.

The United States downed Israel, 91-80, to secure the bronze medal.

There are 24 countries competing in the men’s basketball competition of the 2011 Shenzhen Universiade.

Following the draw held last April 16, here is the composition of the four pools (or groups) in the men’s basketball competition:

Pool A -- China, Germany, Romania, Brazil, Czech Republic and United Arab Emirates;

Pool B -- Serbia, Turkey, Canada, Australia, Republic of South Africa and Hong Kong;

Pool C -- Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Japan, PHILIPPINES and New Zealand

Pool D -- United States, Israel, Finland, Korea, Hungary and Mexico.

More than 3,000 athletes, coaches and officials from a record-setting 188 countries are taking part in the Shenzhen Universiade, making this year the largest Universiade ever.

The first Summer Universiade was held in Turin, Italy, in August-September 1959.

A total of 1,407 athletes from 43 countries saw action in seven sports events that year.

Expectedly, host Italy collected the most number of gold medals with 18 and topped the overall medal list with 38 medals (18-10-10).

Long before Michael Jordan became a legendary player in the National Basketball Association, His Airness saw action with Team USA at the 1983 Universiade.

Jordan powered the Americans to a gold medal finish at the 1983 Universiade in Edmonton, Canada.

While a junior (his final year) at the University of North Carolina, Jordan gained a roster berth on the USA team that copped the gold medal during the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. -- Marlon Bernardino

I Blame Erap

90's era. Elementary days for me back then yet it was still very clear in my memory. On TV was the sight of one of "The MOST OUTSTANDING PHILIPPINE SENATOR" preaching....

Strong words from the charismatic then - senator. It would make the casual Juan de la Cruz patriot running outdoors with a flag and a jungle bolo, wailing for the thirst of freedom against the "imaginary" slavery we Filipinos are suffering. But alas the honorable senator was a bit short sighted on his goals. I was constantly wondering back then, has our honorable senator weighed the pros and cons of his "brilliant" decision?

Yesterday I saw a news. For many uneducated young Pinoy, it turned out to be a surprise. But for someone who expected this backfire to happen, we are reminded on how brilliant our politicians and decision makers are.

“This is Chinese Warship 560. You are in the China territory. Leave the area immediately.”

Upon hearing this warning through a marine band radio, three Philippine boats fishing in Quirino, or Jackson atoll, a Philippine-claimed islet off Palawan in the disputed Spratly Islands, scampered away.

But the Chinese warship still fired three shots at the vessels F/V Jaime DLS, F/V Mama Lydia DLS and F/V Maricris 12. The Philippine Nay later identified the Chinese warship as Dongguan, a Jianghu-V Class missile frigate.

The idiocy of Erap, Tanada, his idiotic cohorts, the rest of the idiotic false sense Pinoy patriots who voted for these clowns and supported them to thwart out US bases out of country (for a reason that they are foreigners bringing AIDS [sheesh just give them some condoms]), back fired. Now we realize what the white skins was looking after, the unstoppable ever growing billion Chinese armada. Back then China would think twice meddling with Spratlys, they know somewhere out there a US aircraft carrier was watching our borders ready to blow anything the same seconds they step their fins on it.

Now lets examine the honorable then - senators speech, with reference to the video posted above. (courtesy of vlag, and youtube)

@0:06 "We have become so dependent on the Americans that we have never learned to be self sufficient,"

Dear Mr. Erap. Nature teaches us that the powerless should be dependent on the powerful. The best way to describe this is an infant Erap's umbilical cord attached to the respected mother, Mrs. Estrada, before you were born, or a young bovine sucking on his mothers nutritious milk, or a chick seeking warmth on the broad feathers of a hen.

Did Mr. Erap ever examined the countries that has US bases on it? South Korea, Taiwan, Japan. Did those countries lost their sovereignty? Are they not self sufficient? No in fact these countries has surpassed us by myriads in terms of economic, social, political, resource progress!

@0:12 "..our country has been seen as a nation of beggars, a nation of prostitutes, nation of cheaters, a nation of domestic helpers... "

After the Americans have left us Mr. Erap, did it diminish our problems with beggars and prostitutes?

If the honorable Mr. Erap only knows how to read statistics, it clearly shows that from the 90's era there was a massive growth of beggars, prostitutes, cheaters, and domestic helpers in our country. With our economic zones diminished this resulted in the pull out of huge American corporations, investors like Fed Ex, Nike, etc..

With the lack of employment, political stability, livelihood our country has become a further land of beggars, prostitutes, domestic helpers, OFWs. The decision of our honorable then senator Erap didn't resolve anything and only made the problem worse. Our country has become more of the land of cheaters. Mr. Erap hows that plunder case of yours doing these days?

The only enslavement our fellow Filipino are suffering is poverty. But alas Mr. Erap never realized that. If Mr. Erap really loved our country he should think more about things that it should benefit from.

I walked across the streets of Shenzhen and realized how organized and well develop it is. Many people fear about China invading our sovereignty, but personally I don't mind. I'm more confident that China could run a better government system than those political clowns that we have now. A thousand times better than Erap.

It amuses me. Below is a post that never went through. I've taken every steps (5 times) to post it and I realize Yahoo keeps blocking it for an enigmatic reason.

But luckily someone managed to post a good pundit. And its so calming to read.

A Converted Android User

For every Apple convention Steve Jobs will held, I will scavenge every website offering free streaming, video upload sites, just to take a glimpse of what "I-something" they would offer.

For every Chicago Bulls playing on a postseason game, I will scavenge every website offering free streaming just to take a glimpse of how they would beat Pacers, Hawks, and now Le-Quit James and the Heat.

For every flash game and mmporg game I missed.

It all happens on an Iphone, and Ipad.

Others are suffering the same dilemma = Staring at a damn blank hole on a page.

I have woes on it as a loyal Iphone user. I have the right to complain. But anyway as Jobs would say "If you don't like it don't buy it."

After searching the web and having the money to purchase a third phone I finally hopped on the Android bandwagon with this dual core phone. LG Optimus 2X.

[My Photo: Haha i love my lx3, quite handy.]

After a month of using it I rarely use my Iphone now. On a dual core 1 GHZ Tegra everything in Optimus 2x seems to be breezy and the screen is vibrant it makes my older phones like an old cathode ray tube tv. Camera, Full HD video, everything seems fine to me. And lastly it plays FLASH.

But one thing I feel lacking is the one Samsung Galaxy and soon Galaxy S2 would have, a Super AMOLED screen and a bigger ram.

But anyway and mostly this is the reason why I prefer Android now over the other

apps? forget it:

Anyway there has been rumors over an iphone 5.

...and I wonder if it could change my mind.

Officially Ending a State of Hiatus

For an unknown reason, a scorching 31 degrees Celsius and some sight of foliage reminds me of my blog and for an enigmatic reason I decided to post something again and will continuously post again and again until everything gets stale to me "again". Oh well I know what I did last summer. I went to Hangzhou.

I wonder where my feet will carry me this time. I welcome again myself to the world of blogging. *applause*

P.S. Screw Photobucket and its "bandwidth exceeded" warnings and crap forcing me to change my blog skin to somewhat a Google eye candy. In the century of "unlimited" things, why Photobucket would put this limitation crap. Do your self a favor, get picasa, imgur, imageshack.
